The Endless Summer You've Never Seen Premieres in NYC at the BIG SCREEN PROJECT

November 4, 2010 New York, NY- Monterey Media is pleased to announce the New York City Premiere of the world's most influential surf movie like you've never seen it before. We call it The Endless Summer, the ultimate surfing adventure, crossing the globe with Bruce Brown in search of the perfect wave. The film will play during the launch week of New York City's latest public art installation, the BIG SCREEN PROJECT, an innovative art and edutainment destination boasting an outdoor 30 x 16.5 ft. HD screen, on Tuesday, November 9th at 7:00 pm.

Revel in the full digitally re-mastered glory of a film so powerful it has become a timeless masterpiece that continues to capture the imagination of every new generation. On restoring the landmark film, Scott Mansfield, CEO and Managing Partner of monterey media said "We are so very excited to be bringing The Endless Summer to the generations of fans who have never seen this beautiful, lyrical film like it is now. We have rejuvenated and Digitally Re-mastered the film with 5.1 surround sound (working with Warner Digital) and it hasn't looked this gorgeous, well ever, since its original theatrical so many years ago. Balancing the color and painstakingly removing over 80% of the film dirt was truly a labor of love."

Available for the 1st time ever on November 16th, The Endless Summer Director's Special Edition 2-disc set comes in a specially packaged case featuring the iconic artwork embossed and foiled.


The Big Screen Project is an innovative presentation model for video, film, live and interactive content. It consists of a large 30 ft. x 16.5 ft. HD Format LED screen located at the 10,000 sq. ft. public plaza behind a new 54-story multi-use building on Sixth Avenue between 29th and 30th Street in New York City. The content shown is eclectic ranging from the best in the arts, cinema, and new media to highlights in sports and video gaming. The vision is to expose the general public to fresh cultural content and to raise awareness for inspirational aims on subjects ranging from the ecological to the humanitarian. The Big Screen Project's team of curators collects the best of global cultures in participation with content partners such as art institutions, film festivals, ecologically and humanitarian minded not-for-profits.

The screen shows a diverse schedule of daily programming organized into conceptual blocks. The aspiration is for the The Big Screen Project to become an art and edutainment destination continuously evolving with its audience and galvanizing Upper Chelsea with thought-provoking tapestries of contemporary media.

Look for the New York Surf Film Festival's archives on the Big Screen Project at free monthly screenings through 2011.
